Sports Vision Assessment: Footballer and Student Josh

Student and Footballer Josh has been undergoing Sports Vision assessments, using the state-of-the-art Senaptec Station at the Vision Performance Hub in Hexham, with results that surprised him.

He started his Sports Vision journey in August 2023 shortly after turning 17. An impromptu chat with VP Hub director Stuart Henderson, when discussing an upcoming routine eye test, led to some very rudimentary vision-tracking exercises Stuart asked Josh to do with coloured Sharpie pens.

Watching the way Josh’s eyes attempted to adapt to the moving pens, it was enough for Stuart to invite Josh to the VP Hub to use the Senaptic Station in October.

Speaking of the results, Stuart said: “Josh has fantastic hand-eye co-ordination and visual decision making skills, but his multiple object tracking skills and reaction times are areas which can definitely be improved.

“With the right type of eye exercises and specific vision training using strobe specs, Josh can expect to have a visual advantage over his opposition.”

Josh will continue to visit the VP Hub and carry out his eye exercises, and his results will be tracked time after time to see how his strengths develop.
